Center for TranslationandIntercultural Communication Studies on Chinese Classics
The "Center for TranslationandIntercultural Communication Studies on Chinese Classics" is developed from the Institute of TranslationStudies on Chinese Classics, established in 2002. The foundingdirector of the research instituteis Professor Rongpei Wang, a nationally renowned scholar, translator and doctoral supervisor in thefield of translation studies on Chineseclassics. Our research team includes professors, associate professors, lecturers, etc.Our academic committee of the Center is composed of well-known scholars from Chinaand the internationalresearch community.
Based oninterdisciplinary andinterregional cooperation, the Center focuses ontranslation studies on Chineseclassics,intercultural communication studies, corpus-based translation studies, translation education and pedagogy in the context of digital era. It takesthe translationstudies on Chinese historical classics/cultural tradition,tea classics/culture, Chinese ideological and cultural terminology, Chinese official terms of ancient dynasties, Chinese traditional cultural essence, China’s path to modernization as a point of departure,together with the communication studies on thesocialist core values and thesharedvalues of humanity, andexplores the pathfor telling a compelling story of China and making China’s voiceheard throughoutourteaching and research so as to help the world understand China as it is.Our research is also intended to reformulate atheoretical framework that would empower the investigation of thetranslation strategies for introducingChinese classicsto the outside worldand to promote intercultural communication effectively.We also aim to help our students to develop their translation and communication skills.
